NEW KALBAR PROCESSOR DEVELOPING RUBBER FARMERS IN SOUTH KALIMANTAN

PT New Kalbar Processor (NKP) collaborated with the Department of Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantation of Tanah Laut Regency held an activity for rubber farmers on July 14, 2022 at UPPB Pinang Jaya, Sungai Pinang Village, Tambangre District, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan. The activity purpose to increase the productivity and quality of rubber for rubber farmers, This event was attended by nearly 100 invited guests including the company's partner rubber farmers, including UPPB Pinang Jaya, UPPB Kapekate, UPPB Mugi Rahayu, UPPB Sidomulyo, UPPB Timbul Jaya, UPPB Maju Bersama, Gapoktan Gunung Bujang, and the Tanah Laut Rubber Cooperative.

On the same occasion, the Director of Operations of NKP, Minah Sehan, said that NKP will continues to be committed to helping small rubber farmers become more prosperous. She also added that to get closer to farmers and natural rubber sources, NKP has set up 2 Bokar Purchase Depots located in Bati-Bati District and Balangan District. NKP with opened hand will buy bokar directly from UPPB or local farmers. "We hope that with the commitment to make cash payments after the bokar is received at the depot, provide accurate scales without any deductions, transparent in the calculation of Dry Rubber Content (K3), then later it can provide additional benefits for all UPPB and NKP partner rubber farmers", said Mrs. Minah.

One off the rubber farmer, Jaja said that this was the first time such an activity had been held in South Kalimantan. “We are all happy with this kind of activity, providing education to farmers, who previously did not know, now they know and this is the first time for farmers to take part in an interesting event like this. Hopefully it can continue to be implemented in the future,"
