PT Kirana Permata - Scholarship Assistance for Children of Farmers in Cooperation with Kirana Permata & Pirelli
PT Kirana Permata in conjunction with Pirelli, one of the world's leading tire manufacturers, returned with awarding a scholarship package to 65 children of smallholders across the region of Muara Enim and its vicinity in South Sumatera. This activity, which took place on 17th December, 2021, was intended to help rubber smallholders deal with the COVID-19 pandemic by alleviating the burden of their children’s education. The package was in the form of cash with Rp. 3.5 million/person for high schoolers, Rp. 3 million/person for junior high schoolers, and Rp. 2.5 million/person for elementary schoolers. Mr. Cong Chia, Director of Operations, remarked that the scholarship assistance was just one in a line of collaborative activities between Kirana Permata and Pirelli conducted every year since 2014. This served as a testament that both the rubber processing factory and the tire factory were very concerned about the well-being of the smallholders, producers of rubber raw material, especially during the current covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the education of their children was essential for the sustainability of natural rubber. "Children with proper education would indirectly improve the welfare of a smallholder family so that rubber sustainability can be maintained," he said. Expressing his gratitude to Kirana Permata and Pirelli, Uswatun Nafiza Izahra, a scholarship recipient, uttered on that awardment day, “This assistance is very helpful for me. May both PT Kirana Permata and Pirelli long continue to prosper and distribute scholarships to all performing students”
