SIO Certification Training for Lifting and Transporting Aircraft at PT Kirana Musi Persada
Heavy equipment is all kinds of mechanical equipment/aircraft, including attachments and implements, whether self-propelled, towed, or stationary, and has a power of more than one kilowatt, which is used to carry out mining construction work, general industry, agriculture/forestry, and/or other fields of work, as long as it is not a direct processing tool. In operating heavy equipment, there are many things and aspects that must be considered, starting from the skills and abilities of the operator, equipment operating procedures, occupational safety (K3) aspects, and maintenance and troubleshooting aspects. This heavy equipment is engineering equipment that contains a high risk of danger that can cause work accidents if not handled properly and correctly.
An operator is authorized to operate a lifting and transport aircraft/equipment if he/she already has a K3 license. Expert and professional operators are the main key to safe and efficient forklift operation. Based on Permenaker No. Per.05/MEN/1985 on Lifting and Transport Equipment, Article 4 regulates that every lifting and transport equipment must be serviced by an operator who has the ability and has special skills on Lifting and Transport Equipment. Therefore, training for crane/forklift operators is a must to ensure that the operator has the expertise and skills to operate the equipment safely and professionally so as not to cause accidents and losses in the form of injury to themselves and others or damage equipment and materials.
Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Manpower Office, Drs. H Koimudin SH, opened the Class II Forklift Lifting and Transport Operator Training organized by the Kirana Megatara Group, which was attended by 25 participants representing each KM Group factory (PT Kirana Utama, PT Kirana Windu, PT Pantja Surya, and others) via Zoom and was held on 24-27 September 2023. For PT KMP itself, 3 participants were included, namely Hendri Taqwa (SIO Forklift), Danil Kurnia (SIO Forklift), and Taufik Hidayat (SIO Forklift).
This training aims to improve the ability of operators to operate forklifts and loaders so as to prevent or reduce work accidents, as well as to fulfill the obligations of employers, which must employ operators who have an SIO (Operator's License) in accordance with Permenaker No. 8 of 2020 concerning Lifting and Transporting Equipment.
In line with the objectives of the training, Mr. Kardiono (Speaker) expressed his hopes for the training participants. "It is expected that all participants can follow the training well and with full discipline in order to further strengthen their abilities and understanding of the safe operation of lifting and transporting equipment, he said".
Until the end of the event, the activity ran smoothly and orderly, and the training participants looked very enthusiastic listening to the material presented by the speaker. After the written and practical exams (correcting the video of the Operation of heavy equipment sent to the vendor) were carried out, and thank God the participants from KMP did not experience any difficulties in taking the exam and were declared to have passed all.
